Liverpool 2-2 West Ham: Fans Furious As Reds Drop Points In Second Consecutive Match
Dec 12, 2016 at 12:26 AM
Liverpool’s defensive problems came back once again to haunt them as goals by Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio helped the struggling West Ham United to secure a 2-2 draw at the Anfield and left the hosts six points adrift of table-toppers Chelsea.
With Arsenal and Chelsea winning their games earlier, the Merseyside outfit needed a win to keep pace with the top two andĀ Adam Lallana gave them a perfect start as he scored in the fifth minute. But the visitors drew level when Loris Karius failed to save a free kick from Payet. Slaven Bilic’s men then took the lead when Antonio scored from a deflected pass.
Jurgen Klopp’s men started the second half in fine fashion as Divock Origi restored parity when he capitalised on a mistake from the West Ham goalie.Ā Darren Randolph dropped a cross into the path of Origi who made no mistake in slotting it home. Randolph soon made amends for his blunder when he made a stunning late save to keep out Jordan Henderson’s brilliant strike.

West Ham players exhausted at the end, we ran them ragged just couldn't find the net. Shame about the mistakes at the back. #LIVWHU

@TheRedmenTV You said it – Chelsea and Arsenal turn these games into 3 points, LFC doesn't. It will cost us badly.#LIVWHU #shitedraw

Karius has cost us 2 more points here, had he not made a mistake on either goal (probably first 1) we win this game. #LIVWHU

Still, we've got one more point than City and Spurs did this weekend and we're in third, so it's not all bad. #LIVWHU

#LIVWHU Disappointing result for us. A point is better than nothing. We need to push harder. The gap at the top is getting wider.

Liverpool now seven points behind #chelseafc. Klopp will wonder how they can have such dominance in final third yet not score #LIVWHU
