Liverpool 4-1 Stoke City: Twitter Reacts As The Reds Reclaim Second Spot In The League With A Thumping Win

Liverpool proved their huge title credentials once again with a thumping victory over Stoke City at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s men came from 0-1 down to beat the Potters 4-1 and reclaim the second spot in the Premier League.
With all the other three teams in the top four winning their matches the previous day, the Reds needed to win against Stoke to keep up the pace and they started in an emphatic manner. The home team was clearly dominating the game but the visitors took the lead against the run of play when Jon Walters headed home the opener in the 12th minute. But the Merseyside outfit responded in style as Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino gave the hosts the lead before the break. Liverpool started in a dominating fashion in the second half too and were rewarded for their good show just before the hour mark when Giannelli Imbula, stretching in front of Mane, guided a Divock Origi cross into his own net. Jurgen Klopp’s side put the game to bed 11 minutes later when Daniel Sturridge scored his first Premier League goal of the season – pouncing onto a poor back-pass from Ryan Shawcross to round Lee Grant and slot into an empty net.
Liverpool are now second in the table, one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City – whom they play on New Year’s Eve.
Here is how Twitter reacted to another clinical performance from the Reds:

Bringing on Emre Can and Sturridge really shows the difference between the current squad and years gone by. Matip and Coutinho out too.

Sturridge is a serious baller

Love that from Sturridge. Anticipating the back pass. Then great composure to go pass the keeper and slot. Class. Strikers instinct! 4-1!

Lallana has added a cutting edge to his game under Klopp that has made a delightful footballer, incisive.

For someone who has been criticised so much in the past, Adam Lallana has been involved in more goals than any other player this year. #lfc

Adam Lallana has really stepped up in the absence of Coutinho.

Carragher: "Mignolet shows why Liverpool still need to buy a new keeper next summer."

Jon Walters is a big Evertonian. He'll have enjoyed that. Stoke one-up #beINSports
