According to The Express, Liverpool are all set to complete the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke this week after deciding to meet his £32.5m release clause.
The report claims that the Belgian international is eager to move to Anfield as he eyes Liverpool for his next stage for development in to a world class striker and the deal is on the verge of completion.
Liverpool are keen to sign a proven goal scorer this summer as they have been aggressive in the transfer market already completing six signings for the next season. Brendan Rodgers is keen to add more fire power to his attack despite signing Danny Ings from Burnley and Roberto Firmino from TSG Hoffenheim.
Benteke has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the recent months due to the striker crisis that the Reds had last season. The Belgian has been in sensational form towards the end of last season as he amassed 15 goals in Premier League for Aston Villa.
The 24-year old has scored 49 goals in 101 appearences for Villa since his move from Genk almost three years ago. The player has also drawn drawn interest from fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United but the Reds are tipped to win the race to sign him.
Reds are looking for a quality striker since Luis Suarez left for Barcelona last season and Benteke could provide much needed pacce and versatility to the Reds if they sign him in the coming days.
