Liverpool and Arsenal trigger Luciano Vietto’s release clause

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Liverpool and Arsenal have activated Luciano Vietto’s £14.2million release clause. The Villarreal striker has 20 goals to his name in all competitions this season. It is reported Atletico Madrid have also activated Vietto’s release clause and he prefers a move to the La Liga club.

Vietto has scored 12 goals in La Liga this season having started just 17 games. Liverpool are in desperate need to signa  striker with their four strikers combined scoring just 13 goals this season. Earlier, Vietto confirmed is desire to move to Atletico Madrid.

“If Atletico offer €20m (£14m) I’ll talk it through with my family and agent,” he told Radio Villarreal. “We’ll try and come to the best decision, but I think everybody wins if they meet my buyout clause.”

“Nothing has happened yet, they’re just rumours and my head is at Villarreal, although nobody knows what might happen in the future,” he said.

“My aim is to be here when pre-season starts.”

According to reports, Liverpool will be Luciano Vietto’s least favoured option and in that case Rodgers will have to look for alternatives. It is reported Christian Benteke is Liverpool’s top priority in the summer and are expected to submit a bid this week. ston Villa’s Christian Benteke has a £32.5m release clause in his contract, and Liverpool have to meet the release clause if they are hoping to sign th Belgian international.
