It has now been stated by Merseyside outfit Liverpool are now planning to make a move for USA international Bobby Wood, as manager Jurgen Klopp has ordered scouts from the Premier League outfit to monitor his development, reports coming from the Berlin Kurier have suggested. The 23-year-old superstar is at present playing in the second division of German football with Union Berlin.
His performances in the current campaign have attracted a lot of interest from various clubs across the European continent and the Reds’ boss is an admirer of the forward as well, it would seem now. The Red’s scouts will monitor his play in the match against Guatemala on Saturday.
The former Borussia Dortmund man is keen to make several changes to the side at the end of the current season, in order to secure a top-four finish next term if not more.
Also, in a recent interview Wood’s teammate, Damir Kreilach, praised him though he admitted the fact that it was not a surprise that a number of top clubs were keeping tabs on him. He said, “When you’re playing well and making many goals then other teams notice and you get offers.”
“He has not been here very long but he has done a lot for the club and shown what he can do when he is in top form and feels comfortable.”
“He is actually a top-flight player – he’s quick, a goal threat, has good sense and is strong in dribbling.”
“He is a great guy and he is certainly on the way up.”
With already a total of 26 appearances in all competitions for his team in the current season so far and a tally of 14 goals to his name along with a couple of assists, Wood could be a star for the future, if Liverpool does indeed manage to get the deal done soon.
