Liverpool expected lineup to face Derby County in the League Cup

Liverpool are back in action this mid week as they taken Derby County in their own back yard in the third round of the League Cup this season. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been excellent for a couple of weeks now and will go into the game as firm favorites but they have shown a weakness against sides that sit back and defend and this will be a game they will have to get through similar tactics from the opposition. Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will go with a strong lineup for this game so here is the predicted lineup for the Reds in this League Cup game against Derby:

Team News:

Liverpool were handed a triple boost before the game after Emre Can, Loris Karius and Roberto Firmino all declared fit for this trip to Derby. Mamadou Sakho and Ragnar Klavan are still a while away from first team football while Daniel Sturridge and Georginio Wijnaldum are not expected to make this trip. Here is Liverpool’s strongest lineup to face Derby this week:

Goal Keeper:

Loris Karius:

Having got back from a hand injury sustained in pre-season, Karius is now in contention for a start this midweek to replace Mignolet on goal and make this debut.

Defense:

Nathaniel Clyne:

Though was shaky at the start, Clyne has been superb for Liverpool for more than a season now and is expected to keep his place at the back.

Dejan Lovren:

Having come back from an eye injury for the game against Chelsea, Lovren will be expected to take his place in defense for this game against Derby.

Lucas Leiva:

An impressive performance against Leicester City barring a costly mistake should see Lucas slot into a central defenders position to give Joel Matip a bit of a rest for this game.

Alberto Moreno:

Having only played a few minutes of football after the Arsenal game, Moreno will be expected to take his place on the flank as he will be given one of his final chances to prove himself to the manager.

Midfield:

Emre Can:

Just back from injury, Can, is now fit to start for the club and will be pushed into the starting XI to give himself some much needed game time ahead of the entire league season.

Ovie Ejaria:

Having missed out on the U23 game against Tottenham yesterday, Ejaria is expected to take a place in the midfield for this game.

Marko Grujic:

The Serbian is yet to make an appearance for Liverpool since the start of the season but this game against Derby gives Klopp the perfect opportunity.

Roberto Firmino:

Having missed the game against Chelsea last weekend, Firmino will be fresh and raring to go as he will hope to put in a good performance in the league cup on Tuesday.

Phillipe Coutinho:

The Brazilian came on late in the game at the Bridge and will be in line for a start against Derby in the League cup.

Attack:

Divock Origi:

Having lost his place in the side to Sturridge, Origi will be hoping to impress his manager enough to get into the starting XI when he starts for Liverpool on Tuesday.
