With less than a week to go for the end of the January transfer window, Liverpool, and Jurgen Klopp will be rushing to finalize any deal that they think will improve the squad.
There have been a number of players linked with a switch to the Merseyside outfit in the transfer window but no new player has yet arrived at Anfield. Here is the round up of the transfer rumors of the day for Liverpool:
The biggest news coming out of Anfield is that the club is a step closer to acquiring the services of Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar after the player has made it clear that he has asked his club for a move-out and has also mentioned Liverpool as his preferred destination.
Sky Sports has reported that the agents of the player are waiting for a response from the club officials after making it clear that the players want a move away from the club.
As Teixeira’s move seems all but done, Liverpool have a headache of their own as Belgian international Christian Benteke is now reportedly up for sale.
The former Aston Villa striker has not been able to impress the Kop since his move to Anfield last summer and may be moving out of Anfield this summer. The Bleacher Report has reported that the Belgian could call time on his Reds career after just a season at Anfield.
The Telegraph has reported that that the German manager is ready to listen to offers even in January which makes Benteke’s place in the squad all the more senseless.
In other news, Liverpool have been bolstered by the news that QPR are now ready to listen to offers for shot-stopper Robert Green. With Bogdan already asking for a move out of Liverpool, Klopp has been eyeing a number of keepers including Marc-Andre Ter Stegen from Barcelona but might look at Green as a backup for Mignolet.
But Ter Stegen seems to be close to moving to Anfield if reports from The Bleacher Report are to be believed, Liverpool are preparing a 20 million bid for the Barcelona shot-stopper.
The same articles also report that the German manager is keen on bringing long-term target Mario Suarez to Anfield after it was understood that he is now unsettled at Fiorentina.
It is believed that Fiorentina want 6 million for his service and if Liverpool want the ex-Atletico Madrid player, they will have to fight it out with a number of Premier League rivals.
Ter Stegen seems to be the biggest news of the day as the fans of the club are still not out of the shocking 5-year contract given to under-fire keeper Simon Mignolet.
Ter Stegen though will be a costly buy, has the potential to be a very good addition and can change the fortunes of Liverpool.
