According to the latest report from Daily Star, Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Manchester United winger Ashley Young and will line up a shocking £8 million deal to sign him this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign Young in an attempt to make his attack stronger heading into the new season. However, the 30-year old is keen to stay at Old Trafford after making good impression last season under Louis van Gaal last season but the club are yet to offer him a new contract as his contract is about to expire in 12 months.

With United already signing Depay in left wing and Pedro expected to arrive following PSG-bound di Maria’s departure, the chances for Young seem bleaker than ever before. The English international have played primarily as a left wing-back in van Gaal’s first season at the club.

A fit Luke Shaw meant van Gaal is keen to start the young left back in the coming season and Memphis Depay as the left winger which means that Young would mostly spend his time on bench.

The likes of Tottenham and Newcastle are also interested for a potential transfer but the player wants a three year extension to his current £118,000-a-week contract. Should the Reds sign Young, it would become one of the most controversial transfers in recent history.

Young has made 34 appearences for Red Devils under Louis van Gaal last season and managed 4 goals and 6 assists.
