Ever since Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool, there have been extensive talks about an overhaul in the first transfer window.
With the summer window offering an opportunity for the German to bring in the player he wants, the Reds have been linked with a number of players all across Europe.
Goal keeper Simon Mignolet seems to be the first player to be replaced at the club after the amount of criticism he has been under after his recent performances.
And it is now reported that Liverpool are targeting the transfer of AC Milan goal keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports in Italy.
Donnarumma, at the age of 16 has attracted a number of top European clubs and after cementing a starting place at Milan. He is reportedly on the radar of the Merseyside club who want him to come to England as a replacement for their Belgian shot stopper.
Mignolet has been one of the most error prone keepers in the history of the club. He has now led to more goals from mistakes than any other Premier League player in the last two season and has grown on to become a liability at the club.
But Jurgen Klopp has shown a great deal of confidence on the Belgian and also offered him a 5 year contract extension, a deal that has baffled many a fans.
However, this has not stopped the press link Liverpool to a number of keepers around Europe, none more than out of favor Barcelona shot stopper Marc Andre Ter Stegen.
Ter Stegen is also keen on a move away from Spain but the his price tag might be too hot to handle for the Reds which has now seen the club linked with the 16 year old Italian national.
Leading Italian newspaper Tuttosport has now reported that Liverpool have joined the race along with Barcelona and Ajax for the signing of Donnarumma this summer.
The 16-year old has done so much for Milan at a tender age, that he has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United as well as a back up keeper for their present number 1’s.
However, Donnarumma also comes with a hefty price tag with Milan not willing to let him leave the club at such a young age.
The contract on which the Italian is at Milan will see the price on a high and the player’s agent claimed that he is worth around 119 million euros this summer.
So Liverpool will have to splash the cash to get both their targets to Anfield next season. It will be interesting to see the approach Klopp takes to solving the goal keeper crisis currently at Liverpool.
Do you think Donnarumma will make the move to EPL thus summer?
