Liverpool’s last game last season exposed a number of flaws the squad was carrying with it even as they managed to make a run into the Europa league final last season.
One of those is the first choice left-back Alberto Moreno. The Spaniard who moved to Liverpool a couple of seasons ago was one of the most criticized players in the Liverpool squad in the last season. Though he showed great creativity going forward, he has been a liability for the club at the back and has often cost the team some goals.
This has seen the manager Jurgen Klopp search high and dry for a quality left-back this summer but has missed out on his top priority in Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
But it is now understood that the German is looking back into his homeland to replace Moreno in the first team this summer.
In a link that will bring smiles to the faces of the Reds, Liverpool are now reportedly ready to make a bid for German international Jonas Hector according to journalist Emanuele Giulianelli’s exclusive on Tribal Football.
The English outfit have already let the likes of Brad Smith and Jon Flanagan leave the club this transfer market and are in desperate need of a left-back to lead the team into the next season and it is understood that Klopp wants Jonas Hector for that job.
The German international was one of the mainstays in the national team in the recent EUROs in France after an impressive season with FC Koln in the Bundesliga. At 26-years of age, Hector is an experienced player who has been impressive in almost every outing with club and country.
It is also revealed that the player is a fan of the German manager and is excited with the prospect of working for him next season.
The report also suggests that the Bundesliga outfit are stuck on their word that the player will not leave the club unless his valuation of £22.5m is met and it is understood that the price is not an issue for the Premier League club.
The manager got £6m for Brad Smith from AFC Bournemouth this summer and compared to that price, Hector is a steal for Liverpool.
Though he does not have any experience in the English game, Hector will surely be an upgrade on the Spaniard at the club and it is expected that Liverpool will complete the deal in the coming days.
Do you think Liverpool can get their man this transfer window?
