With injuries to key players in recent times, Liverpool are continuously linked with a number of super stars from all over Europe.
The latest rumor out of Anfield is a reported interest in the Anderlecht player Dennis Praet. Liverpool are reportedly trying to hijack Fiorentina’s move for the Belgian national.
GianlucaDiMarzio.com reported that Fiorentina were close to securing the signing of the 21-year-old but are now concerned by the interest from the EPL franchise.
DailyMirror reported that the price tag of 22.3 million for the player has also scared off the Italian side and it is understood that the Reds are ready to meet the asking price of the player.
The agent of the player has made it clear that he is not going to extend his contract that expires in 2017. He also made comments about his clients future in 2014.
Jacques Lichtenstein told Sport Voetbal: “What can he gain by spending one more season at Anderlecht where he has already played for three years and has contributed to three back-to-back league titles?
“Dennis will not just play for any club.
“He can join the likes of Valencia, Liverpool, Arsenal or Atletico Madrid but not Dynamo Kyiv.
“He is not so far away from being at the level of Arsenal, where they will allow him a year to settle down.”
Praet was on the verge of signing for the Gunners from Genk in 2010 but the deal fell through.
Talking about his move, the youngster said, “I was 16 when I went to do a test at Arsenal,” he revealed. “I played a match with the reserves, I visited the training complex and I went through training with the first team. I never met Arsene Wenger.
“The move to Arsenall fell through because I gave priority to school, 100 per cent absolutely to I wanted to finish my school and at Anderlecht I could make the perfect combination.”
