Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for their most expensive signing of the season Christian Benteke according to the Bleacher Report in spite of Jurgen Klopp’s comments that Benteke has a future at the club.

Benteke was signed for £32,500,000 in the summer from Aston Villa on a “long-term contract” but his time at Liverpool may not be so “long” after all. Benteke has been a disappointing signing for Liverpool as he has only managed 7 goals in all competitions this season.

Although Benteke has not been having the most memorable of seasons he is still Liverpool’s top-scorer and it comes as a surprise that Liverpool are willing to let him go.

The Belgian was signed by Brendan Rodgers for the Merseyside club but new manager Jurgen Klopp doesn’t seem to be much of a Benteke fan. Young Divock Origi was the preferred option till he was fit but in spite of a long-term injury to Origi, Klopp didn’t turn to Benteke and instead opted to play Roberto Firmino as a forward.

When Klopp was quizzed about Benteke’s absence from the starting XI in recent times Klopp said “Of course he has a future – that is not in question,” Klopp said of the £32.5m summer signing from Aston Villa.

Christian Benteke has sparsely featured for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp and usually makes an appearance after the hour-mark. Benteke should consider himself fortunate that his fellow strikers – Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are all injured otherwise he wouldn’t even find himself on the bench.

Benteke is keen to work hard to get back into Klopp’s good books and will not make any decision about his future until the summer.

The report also adds that Benteke is focussed on Euro 2016 and will take a decision about his future only after the competition ends but that hasn’t stopped Liverpool from beginning their search for a new striker.
