Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool were off to a bright start to their Premier League campaign as they managed to get all three points from a trip to the Emirates in the first game of the season for both sides.
The manager has done some smart business in the transfer window this summer and has bought in a number of new players who have already settled into the squad. However, Klopp is still in the market for a few other additions to strengthen his squad.
But one player who is linked with a move away from the club this summer is Christian Benteke.
The Belgian international moved to Liverpool on a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa just last summer but was not able to impress the new manager Jurgen Klopp in his time at Anfield.
It was reported that the manager has told the player that he has not future at the club and that he will have to search for a potential suitor this summer.
This has seen a number of clubs make a move for the Belgian with Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace reportedly making a £25m bid that was rejected.
However, since then, the striker himself has admitted that a move to Palace is a good choice, it was understood that Pardew will meet Liverpool’s asking price for the attacker.
And now that Palace sold Yannick Bolasie in a big money deal, the manager is ready to spend on the Belgian to bring him to Selhurst Park this summer.
However, Liverpool, who themselves have fallen prey to the inflation in the current transfer market are not ready to let go of the player unless they re-coup everything they paid to Aston Villa for Benteke this summer.
But it is now understood that Liverpool have rejected a fresh £30m bid for the Belgian from Crystal Palace today.
The Selhurst Park outfit is reportedly ready to meet Liverpool’s £30m asking price and made an official bid but it is reported the Liverpool rejected the bid which is being called ‘unrealistic’.
According to reports, Palace are ready to offer Liverpool a sum of £23m up front for his signature with the remaining £7m being paid as add-ons.
However, Liverpool are insisting that they get a bigger sum up front and are not ready to let Benteke leave with these terms in his contract.
Palace are desperate for an attacker, especially after selling Bolasie to Everton. However, with Liverpool standing firm on their valuation, Palace will have to splash the cash or look elsewhere for additions.
Do you think Palace should pay £32.5m for Benteke this summer?
