After a shaky start to the season, the hierarchy at Anfield decided to send Brendan Rodgers and his back room staff packing and replaced him with the genius of Jurgen Klopp who bought his own colleagues when he moved to England.
A lot of things have changed at the club since then and a lot more will change this summer and recent reported have revealed that the German manager will add a Bayern Munich man to his support staff for years to come.
Andreas Kornmayer, 41 has been a part of the German outfit for more than 10 years and has worked with Jupp Heynckes and Louis van Gaal along with Pep Guardiola over the last couple of seasons.
However, he is set to terminate his services at Bayern Munich and is headed to Anfield to help Jurgen Klopp in his adventure next season.
He will replace Ryland Morgan who ended a 4-year stint at Liverpool just last month after accepting Jurgen Klopp’s offer to work with the club.
Morgan’s contract expires at the end of the season but he has already left the club and the club’s U-21 fitness coach Andy O’Boyle will take his place from now to the end of the season.
With Bayern Munich set to undergo a squad overhaul, the backroom staff is also set to be shuffled this summer, and with Guardiola also moving to the EPL, Kornmayer will be pleased to be working at the highest level with Liverpool.
The Liverpool manager is understood to be fond of the coach who according to him was instrumental in the Bayern’s treble winning season in 2013.
“Don’t forget the 2013 treble-winning team of Bayern was unbelievably strong and they had all their players fit until the end,” Klopp said talking about the importance of fitness to a squad earlier this year.
With Klopp heading into a full pre-season before the start of the next season, Kormayer is set to assume an important role in the pre-season games as he will have to help the players reach the heights Klopp expects from them come to the start of the next season.
