In the first transfer window in charge of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has completely changed the way the transfer committee worked previously at the club.

As any Liverpool fan will tell you, it is refreshing to see the club get deals done within hours though the quality of the signings still remains a debate.

But recent reports emerging on Wednesday have reported that Liverpool have agreed terms for Shalke defender Joel Matip for a move in the summer.

The highly rated center back is understood to have signed a pre-contract with the English franchise and will officially be a Liverpool player once his contract in Germany expires this summer.

It is understood that Klopp is a huge admirer of the 24-year old and is keen on brining him to Anfield next season to strengthen the defensive side of the club.

Standing at 6’4”, Matip will surely be an improvement on the current defenders at the club. The German defender has won more duels and has made more interceptions than any of the defenders in the current Liverpool squad.

He has 27 caps for his country and the German club Shalke are interested in extending his contract. But Matip has stood firm on his desire to play elsewhere and it now seems that he will be at Liverpool after the end of this season.

Acquiring the likes of Matip would be a very huge step towards their goals for the Red of Merseyside who are languishing at the 8th place in the Premier League table.
