It seems that Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal will now battle it out in the January transfer window to push through a move to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, as per the recent claims coming in. The Reds now truely believe that they have an advantage over the Gunners in the race to sign the Argentine international in the near future. It has been confirmed by Spanish media outlet Fichajes that the Merseyside club are confident that their new manager Jurgen Klopp could make all the difference to the deal, as they look to strengthen their attack further in the new year.
At present the 22 year old superstar’s price is quite high due to the quality that he possesses, though he has only managed to score four times in 12 outings so far this season and the Serie A giants do not wish to sell him anyways.
On the other hand, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also keen on adding more quality to his side’s attack after yet another injury crisis at the Emirates, though some of his attacking players returned to fitness in recent weeks.
It would be quite interesting to see whether the former Sampdoria man moves to Anfield or not, if Liverpool make a move for him when the transfer window opens once again.
If a deal does go through, it will be a huge boost for Klopp’s side who are struggling with a long term injury to Danny Ings and an injury prone Daniel Sturridge up front.
