English right back Nathaniel Clyne is set to be the sixth signing of Liverpool according to reports.

Liverpool is doing impressively well in the transfer window and already signed five players in the form of James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and most recently Roberto Firmino. The sixth signing Nathaniel Clyne is on the cards. They are doing early business and fans are pleased with the management.

Nathaniel Clyne will complete his protracted £12.5million move to Liverpool next week and become Brendan Rodgers’s sixth summer signing and will complete a remarkable week for the Merseysiders.

Clyne is poised for a medical next week when he returns from holiday in America and will sign a five-year deal, with Rodgers impressively rebuilding his squad before the transfer window has even officially opened.

Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, sees him as the perfect fit for his attacking style, with Clyne regarded as defensively sound and also a threat going forward. The long time servant for Liverpool at right back position, Glen Johnson has left the club with his contract expiring. Clyne can ideally fill the void.

Clyne made 35 appearances for Saints last season scoring 2 goals. His shot per game ratio is 0.5 which is quite impressive for a defender. His tackles per game and interceptions per game is 3.3 and 1.8 respectively which reflects his good defending ability. His key passes per game and dribbles per game is 0.6 and 0.8 respectively which suggests he is a brilliant attacker also.

Liverpool’s second offer of an initial £10.5 million, which will rise to £12.5 million, has been enough to persuade Southampton to reluctantly sell the right-back.

After a disappointing season last time out, Rodgers has acted swiftly in the transfer market to cover the lapses from last season and more transfers are likely to occur this summer.
