The Premier League is back this mid-week with some exciting fixtures but none as thrilling as this battle between two managerial masterminds of the game. Arsene Wenger will go head to head with Klopp after the manager took over the Merseyside franchise.
From Arsenal’s position at the top of the table to Liverpool’s injury problems, there are a lot of talking points from this intriguing fixture. Here is the preview of this encounter along with the Team News, Expected Line-ups, Predictions and Betting Odds.
The Liverpool vs Arsenal game will be played on Wednesday the 13th of January at Anfield in Liverpool. The kick off is scheduled at 8:00 pm BST (1:30 am IST on Thursday).
Jurgen Klopp had some great news for the Liverpool fans as he revealed that Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho are fit for this fixture against Arsenal. He also mentioned that skipper Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Jordan Ibe may all be included in the squad for this game. Daniel Sturridge may return for the weekend but is out of this game. Keeper Simon Mignolet is also doubtful for this clash and may be replaced by the returning loanee Danny Ward.
Arsenal reported that Alexis Sanchez was nearing a return but this trip to Anfield comes a bit too soon for him. Ozil and Flamini will be back in the squad after sitting out the FA Cup while Rosicky, Welbeck, Wilshere, Coquelin and Cazorla are all out of contention for this fixture. Campbell will once again start this game and will hope to continue his scoring streak from the weekend.
Ward; Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno; Can, Lucas, Milner, Firmino, Lallana; Benteke
Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Flamini, Ramsey, Walcott, Ozil, Campbell; Giroud
Benteke vs Koscielny:
Koscielny has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season and will be up against the big Christian Benteke who has not quite been able to settle into the Liverpool squad. The Belgian will have to get involved more in the game and should be at his best if Liverpool are to take all three points from this game.
Ozil vs Lucas:
Arguably the best player in the Premier League this season, Ozil has been sensation and will surely be at it at Anfield on Wednesday. Brazilian mid-fielder Lucas Leiva will have to stay close to him and afford him no space what so ever to weave his magic otherwise, the home team might end up not getting even a point from this fixture.
Liverpool drew with Arsenal at the Emirates but under Brendan Rodgers. This Liverpool side looks quite different from that and will surely test Arsenal and their stability at the top of the table. Both clubs have some good offensive players who on their day can blow teams away. It will surely be an intriguing fixture with the visitors starting as slight favorites going into the game.
