Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has hinted that he might bring in a surprise striker signing this summer to bloster his sqaud and and turn it into a title winning team.

The Premier League giants did great business in the last few weeks as they roped in German midfield maestro Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Muncih, talented central midfielder Moragn Schneiderlin from Southampton and promising defender Matteo Darmian from Torino. Their first signing of the season was Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.

So far the team looks good in all the departments but lack a defensive leader and a cover striker for Wayne Rooney. Rooney who had played as a number 10 in almost all the games last season, will feature as the front striker in this season.

At present United have just three proper striker. Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez who is injured and youngster James Wilson. Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao left the club this season after becoming out of favour.

Regarding new signings Van Gaal was quoted by the TimesNo, because still we have Rooney, he can play in the striker’s position.

All the media had written he had to play there so I listened and now you put this question [to me] so I don’t know what you want.

Also we have Chicharito [Hernandez] and may be Wilson and may be there comes a surprise. It’s a process. Hernandez is coming [to join us on the tour] on July 25.

He can prove himself and now Falcao and Van Persie are gone so his chances are better. I’m not worried about that position.

Louis van Gaal also praised Radamel Falcao who departed from the club at the end of last season and has now joined rivals Chelsea on loan. he said: I wish him all the best because in our squad he was a fantastic, professional player but he came [to us] after being injured for a period.

We have made him very fit but I like him very much as a person and a football player. Now he tries his luck in Chelsea and I wish him all the best.

Strikers like Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich Robert Lewandowski are heavily linked with the club.
