If reports across major English media tabloids are to be believed, Southampton left back Luke Shaw is et to join Manchester United in the summer. It is believed that the Red Devils have tabled a whopping £27m for acquiring the services of the 18 year old who has enjoyed a superb season at the south coast club under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Shaw is a boyhood Chelsea fan but with the Red Devils offering reportedly offering Shaw a staggering £100,000-a-week to replace Patrice Evra, who could join Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan next season, Southampton would find the deal too lucrative to turn down. Pochettino’s feature too remains clouded at the Saints as the Argentine has been placed at even stevens to replace Tim Sherwood at Tottenham in the summer.
United’s defense needs a major reshuffle in the upcoming transfer market with Rio Ferdinand retiring and Vidic along with Evra are on their way out of Old Trafford. The young left back will also in all probability feature for England in the World Cup and has reportedly told his team mates that he has set his heart to join the Red Devils.
Former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen believes that Shaw will have it in him on what it takes to be a United player. I think it’s always good to keep progressing up the ladder and to play at the highest standard.
‘And once you have had the experience that Luke Shaw has had in the Premier League, I think you are certainly ready for that challenge now.
‘Having had the first-team experience he has, and now going to a World Cup, I’d say he is more than ready to join a really big club – if Southampton let him go.’
