Since receiving a horrible double footed challenge causing a double leg fracture in the Champions League game against PSV, Luke Shaw has not played a single match for the Red Devils. It was September 2015 when the left back last played in a match.
At Manchester United’s Carrington base, Shaw has recently started to train and had a session with his Manchester United teammates on this Thursday
Manchester United will face Crystal Palace tonight in the FA Cup final and will look to avoid a trophy-less season with a victory. The young left back, Luke Shaw was expected to be back before the final, but Louis Van Gaal has confirmed that Shaw isn’t completely matched fit yet and will not be playing in the final.
According to Mirror, Louis Van Gaal told MUTV: “I have always said to him that he can play in the final to keep his motivation high, but now I cannot say that anymore because we are in the final [next weekend],”
“It is a pity because he cannot reach that level to play. He needs more time to play. His motivation is still high and I have to give compliments to him because it is not easy to be away for such a long time. He is coming back, but he is coming back next season.”
This week Luke tweeted: “Always had a bit of hope that I would get back fit before the end of the season! Wasn’t meant to be! Good luck to the boys in the euros.”
“Day by day I am getting better and fitter,” – said the left back to the club site previous month.
“I am just going to keep pushing now until the end of the season and see what happens.
“At the moment, my leg feels really great every time I go outside. There was a bit of aching at the start but now they are all gone.
“It is just back to hard work now and hopefully I will see the fans before the end of the season.”
Although the likes of Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, and Morgan Schneiderlin, who could not play the final league game against Bournemouth, have trained with the squad and are fit to play tonight!
