Leicester are ready to take the fight for CSKA Moscow’s highly-rated striker Ahmed Musa to the Deadline Day as Manchester United are also desperate to sign the player, according to a report from Daily Mail.
Last week it was reported that the league leaders Leicester saw their £15million bid straight away rejected for the 23-year-old Nigeria Captain. Manchester United are also strongly in the contention to hijack the in-form striker while Southampton declaring their interest lately.
Leicester however have failed with two further bids, the latest believed to be £20million, but they are yet again in the race to sign Musa ahead of today’s transfer deadline.
Boss Claudio Ranieri has long been a strong admirer of Musa and regards the CSKA attacker as the ideal hitman to bolster their shock Premier League title bid.
On the other hand, Southampton decided to enter the fray recently as their striker, Graziano Pelle set to return to Italy.
Meanwhile United boss are heavily interested particularly on speedy Musa’s versatility. He has so far netted 10 goals in 29 appearances for his side side this term.
The 23-year-old marksman can operate down the flanks, as an attacking midfielder or as a striker and has also has scored 11 goals in 56 appearances for Nigeria. Two of those goals came in a thriller against Argentina at the 2014 World Cup. The Super Eagles were eventually beaten 3-2 by the Argentines.
CSKA till last night were very much insistent that Ahmed Musa, who has been playing with them since 2012, is going nowhere. Whereas the player himself has already revealed to his close friends that he is “excited” for a move to the Premier League.
His club, however, have decided to keep him for the rest of the season. If they fail to do so, they are looking to cash in as close to his £22.8million buyout clause as they can. Some reports suggest, CSKA would accept any bid around £20million.
The Red Devils are currently the lowest scorers among the Premier League’s top six with skipper Rooney scoring only six goals in the league this season.
Southampton, meanwhile, are looking to sign another forward because Pelle is not at all happy after being pushed down the pecking order by Charlie Austin.
Leicester have looked for a string of other strikers, including an £11million offer for Chelsea’s Loic Remy but Musa is the top priority target on whom they are most interested.
