Former Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf’s former manager George O’Callahan who managed the Senegalese at Malaysian club Sabah has stated that the claims from Diouf regarding Steven Gerrard are “lies” and the striker simply said this because he “hates” the former English skipper.
Diouf has been in the news recently after he claimed that Gerrard is a racist and he dos not like black people. The whole thing started with Gerrard’s second autobiography “My Story”, where the player revealed all about his feelings towards his former teammates and managers including Rafael Benitez, Mario Balotelli, and El-Hadji Diouf.
He said that he used to monitor new signings to check if he is world class like Xabi Alonso or El-Hadji Diouf, a Luis Suarez or a Mario Balotelli.
He was quoted: “I had seen a staggering number of new signings walk into the Liverpool training ground.
“I watched every single one of their first training sessions with close attention, wondering whether we’d bought a star or another dud, a king or a prat, a Xabi Alonso or an El Hadji Diouf, a Luis Suarez or a Mario Balotelli.”
The former Liverpool captain claimed Diouf had no real interest in football and cared nothing about Liverpool, finishing off by stating that while he had some respect for Balotelli, who could be ‘endearing’ at times, he had none for Diouf.
Diouf, known to be a controversial character, seemingly did not like what Steven Gerrard had to say about him and took to Radio Future Media in Senegal, relayed by Le10 Sport, to voice his opinion on the Liverpool legend.
There has been no previous incident where Gerrard could be established as a racist and the LA Galaxy start is now considering to take legal action against his former teammate, according to Telegraph.
“We all saw how he made life difficult for Mario Balotelli in Liverpool,” Diouf told Senegalese radio station Radio Future Media, according to Le10 Sport.
“I warned him. Liverpool is not a team that welcomes blacks unless they are British. Otherwise, you have no chance. This is common knowledge.”
“Gerrard has never liked black people,” Diouf went on to claim. “When I was in Liverpool, I showed him that I was black, I’m not English, but I will not let him walk all over me. All the time I spent there, he never dared to look me in the eye.”
“Gerrard is just jealous. What I have done in football, he did not. When I came to Liverpool, I came up with the status of a boss and he lives there.”
“I am respected in world football, the greatest football experts have appointed me among the seven best players in the World Cup, the top 100 players of the century.”
“Several big players do not belong. Everywhere I go out of my country, they worship me. [Gerrard], wherever he goes outside his city of Liverpool, will be insulted.”
It was then reported that Gerrard is set to take legal action against his former teammate and now the former manager of Diouf also said that Diouf is just lying.
Through a string of tweets (which can be seen below), O’Callaghan appears to suggest that Diouf had been planning his comments for a while.
‘I can tell everyone it is lying as he [Diouf] told me when I was his manager in Sabah that one day he would say what he said about Gerrard, I ask him was it true and he said no but he hated him,’ O’Callaghan’s tweets explain.
Due to the serious nature of what has been said, it’s safe to say that this won’t be the last we hear on this matter.
