Manchester City’s attempts at re-building their squad for the 2015/16 Premier League season is getting even stronger after reports have confirmed that the Citizens have submitted an audacious €70m bid for the Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
According to bein Sports, City were interested in signing the French striker until the moment Florentino Perez decided not to sell the striker and focus on extending the contract for Sergio Ramos and signing Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan.
Benzema has been a long-term target for Arsenal, however, it has been claimed that the last time Arsenal made contact with the striker was back in mid July and since then no new developments have been made on that front.
Manchester City saw that a possible opportunity to sign Benzema but much like Arsenal’s failed attempts, they had to come away empty handed as well. Despite failing to sign Benzema, all was not dicey for City as they have reached an agreemnet with Valencia’s center back Nicolas Otamendi to be a city player in next few hours.
According to club sources, Otamendi will wear the number 17 shirt for Manchester City. Citizens are also believd to be closing on a deal to sign Kevin De Bruyne in the summer after Sky Sports were convinced of a new and improved bid from City in the region of £47million.
