After keeping a close look on the Juventus starlet, Paul Pogba to be his marquee signing in the summer, Pep Guardiola could be on a collision course with the Premier League club Manchester City, even before his arrival.
The Juventus-bound former Manchester United midfielder was City’s previous year’s target, but the club were not ready to pay the sum asked by the club for hi, as they thought it was too high, it was a heavy sum of 1£71m fee and negotiations stopped when they were discussing personal terms.
Though Manchester Evening News reports: “the French midfielder is among the incoming manager’s top targets when he takes over at the Etihad at the end of the season”
It has been a year since City have tried to lure the youngster, so Pogba’s price must have been risen up to around £80m in these 12 months, though according to Allegri, even that amount would not be a convincing.
The upcoming new boss Pep Guardiola and Martin Demichelis may face each-others at the front gates of the Etihad stadium in the summer, but their destinations will surely be different. The 35-year-old centre-back’s contract runs out, in the next month and there is still no sort of hint or indication that he’ll sign another deal with City, even he hasn’t played for City since a poor performance in the Manchester derby.
Though the La Liga side, Valencia believe that the 35-year-old still has it and he can play at least another couple of seasons with his experienced legs, and are looking to sign him up for free.
It has been weeks, but Sky Blue fans are still enjoying the news that, Guardiola had agreed his first deal as City boss. It is too early to discuss possible transfers, says the Spaniard, who was in no mood to answer anything related to the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
When Guardiola was repeatedly asked if he is going to sign the 25-year-old playmaker from the German Club, he cleared the air of speculations at a press conference before Bayern Munich’s German cup clash with Werder Bremen. The Spaniard said: “I am the coach of Bayern Munich.”
The Juventus-bound and former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is being “lined up to replace Wilfried Bony” at the Etihad as the 23-year-old caught the eye of the Sky Blues scouts who were monitoring the youngster during the match between the two clubs in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season. But Real Madrid can still go for a move for the player and even could trigger a buy-back clause in his contract, as it was mentioned in the player’s contract when they sold him for a low price.
