Manuel Pellegrini will be more than happy with the start his team has had to the new season of the Barclays Premier League. But their European campaign did not start like he wanted as his team went down 2-1 to last year’s runners up Juventus at home. In just around 50 hours after the defeat, City will take on West Ham United in their 6th match of this season.

West Ham have started their season with a bang as they took 6 points from travels to the Emirates and Anfield. They are placed 5th in the table after 5 games with 9 points and Slaven Bilic will be confident of his men to produce a similar performance against Manchester City. This article is a preview of the match between the two teams. We have also included the team news and predictions.

The Manchester City vs West Ham United match will be played on Saturday the 19th of September at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. The game will kick off at 5:30 pm BST (10:00 pm IST).

Manchester City started the season with 5 victories from 5 games and are yet to concede a goal. They have scored 11 goals in those games and have won their last game against Palace with a late winner from the teenager Iheanacho. They look ever so solid at the back but the absence of Vincent Komapny may just give West Ham something to play with.

City have an array of attacking talent which has created a number of chances in the games gone by and this game will be nothing different. Tomkins and Reid will have their work cut out with the likes of Sterling, Aguero and Silva constantly knocking on the door.

Payet has been the star player for West Ham this season.  He looked like he can make things happen any time and he may trouble the City defense which is yet to be breached. West Ham’s away record proves that this game is actually more difficult than it seems for the Manchester club.

Expected Line-ups:

Manchester City: Hart, Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Kolarov, Toure, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Aguero

West Ham United: Adrian, Jenkinson, Reid, Tomkins, Cresswell, Kouyate, Noble, Lanzini, Payet, Moses, Sakho

Predictions:

Manchester City have been rarely troubled this season in the Barclays Premier League in the first 5 matches. They look assured and are playing as a team. They have some great depth in the squad and will be hoping to see of an in form West Ham team that has already caused some upsets.

Our Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 West Ham United.
