Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur: Twitter reacts As Red Devils Win At Old Trafford For First Time Since September
Dec 11, 2016 at 11:03 PM
Henrikh Mkhitaryan continued his fine form as his first goal in the Premier League was enough for Manchester United to edge out Tottenham Hotspur.
United started emphatically and Paul Pogba forced Hugo Lloris into a good save in just the second minute. The Red Devils deservedly got ahead when the Armenia international finished off a brilliant through ball from Ander Herrera just before the half-hour mark.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were dominating the possession but it was the hosts who were looking more potent in the attack. Christian Eriksen came close to firing the Spurs to the lead in the 19th minute but his free kick was brilliantly saved by David de Gea. Six minutes later, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal-bound shot was well saved by Lloris.
The visitors started well in the second half and got their best chance to open their account in the match but Victor Wanyama missed the target with a header from six yards out. United came close to scoring their second goal on several occasions but could not convert them.
Meanwhile, the game turned sour for Mkhitaryan and United when the former Borussia Dortmund star was taken off on a stretcher with an ankle injury in the final 10 minutes. Both the teams had a penalty appeal dismissed in the six minutes of added time as United held on to win at Old Trafford for the first time after September 24.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
Think @ManUtd are a decent, improving side with good options. Definitely on the way back after a period in the post Fergie wilderness.

It's going to awkward when the doctors checking Mkhitaryan over find Danny Rose in his back pocket.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan quite easily Man of the Match. Superb goal, brilliant build-up play and carried out his defensive work. Top, top player.

If José Mourinho could find a way to get both Henrikh Mkhitaryan & Juan Mata into the starting 11 i honestly believe we would destroy teams.
