Jose Irribaren, the agent of Argentina’s star midfielder Nicolás Gaitán, has confirmed that the footballer has agreed personal terms with Manchester United. The move will be declared official as United make an agreement with the board of Gaitán’s current club, S.L. Benfica.

While talking to Portuguese radio station Antena 1, Irribaren commented on Gaitan’s situation by claiming, “Everything is possible, there is a deal with Manchester United. The will of the player is that everything goes well.”

Regarding Benfica’s willingness to part with their key player, he went on to add, “We are waiting for a response from the vice President, which is why I cannot say much more.”

Nicolás Gaitán joined Benfica in May 2010 on a 5-year contract, as Angel di Maria departed for Real Madrid from the Portuguese club. Gaitán has scored 30 goals in 215 appearances for Benfica, while winning back-to-back Primeira Liga titles with the club in 2013-14 and 2014-15. He has also won two runners-up medals in the Europa League as Benfica lost in the Europa league finals of 2013 and 2014. Last year, the Argentina international extended his current contract with Benfica till 2018, which reportedly includes a £25million release clause.

Manchester United are overhauling their squad as they look to challenge for the Premier League title. They have already signed Dutch forward Memphis Depay from PSV for £25million, and are nearing a deal for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
