English giants Manchester United and Chelsea are eyeing AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma according to reports in The Sun. But it seems the English outfits will have to make a huge effort to lure the goalie away from Italy as Milan desperately want to keep the youngster at San Siro and are reportedly planning to offer a new contract to their priced asset.
According to Italian publication Sport Mediaset Milan are preparing to open contract talks with the goalkeeper. The 17-year-old is reportedly on a deal worth around £134,000-a-year at San Siro which runs until 2018. However, his agent Mino Raiola is waiting for guarantees over a new contract for his client from the new owners.
The 17-year-old keeper, who is dubbed as the ‘New Buffon’, made his Italy debut in a friendly against France last Thursday. He came on for Gianluigi Buffon at half time to become the youngest keeper to ever play for Italy.
And the legendary goalkeeper thinks that the teenager is destined for great things.
“Donnarumma is a chosen one,” he said. “There’s a new project, and we’re ready to make our quality available to the coach.
“When you feel you still have something to give then you’re ready for a new project.”
