Chelsea’s Belgian midfielder and the reigning PFA Player of the Year, Eden Hazard has been made into a prime target by the Manchester United hierarchy who finally realise that the club has lost its image of winners over the previous few years and loo to temper expectations amongst the fan base.
The deals for Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, while always looking probable, have not been anywhere close to being completed due to this underachievement by the Red Devils over the last couple of years since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired from his post as the manager.
The loss of Champions League for a season after Moyes fiasco compounded by the inability to even qualify from the group stage this season makes for an extremely disappointing reading for the Mancunians.
Also, the inconsistency in their play plus a very strong feeling that there will be no trophies come the summer makes the club bosses realise that players like Bale, Ronaldo and Neymar might be way out of reach for them, especially when considering that they are currently winning on a regular basis and not fighting for scraps in the Europa League.
A United source conceded: “The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation.”
Hence in this equation enters Eden Hazard who has been having a disappointing season so far hampered with injuries and with a terrible loss of form of the complete squad.
“Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again.”
This transfer is probably never going to happen simply because even with Chelsea struggling this season, they will definitely bounce back but it is better to see a fellow struggling club finally realising their limitations and tempering expectations for an extremely demanding fan base.
