Manchester United right-back Rafael Da Silva is all set to join French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais on a €3m transfer fee. The Brazilian defender is set to have his medical at the French club today, 2nd August, according to French Newspaper L’Equippe.

Rafael had joined Manchester United in 2008 as a teenager. He was a promising young talent when he had joined from Fluminese and a alot was expected from him. Unfortunately, he could not live up to the expectations as he remained out of action in almost every season due to injuries. Teh 25-year-old has been prone throughout and now finally he is leaving the club. Manchester United already have makeshift right-back Antonio Valencia who did a commendable job last season. Louis van Gaal has bought Italian defender Matteo Darmian from Torino this summer who is pre-dominantly a right-full back.

Rafael had won 3 Premier League titles with United, 1 Capitol 1 Cup and twice finished runner-up in the UEFA Champions League. He had played a total of 109 matches for the club in 7 seasons.
