Benfica star Victor Lindelof is on his way to the Old Trafford as his former teammate Robin Blomme has claimed that Manchester United have completed a £37.8 million deal for the long-term defensive target.
Blomme, who played alongside the Sweden international for Vasteras SK, revealed that the Red Devils have agreed to a deal with Benfica’s president, Luis Filipe Vieira. Blomme claimed that the Benfica’s game against Rio Ave on Wednesday will be Lindelof’s last for the Portuguese outfit before moving to Manchester in the upcoming transfer window.
Blomme tweeted:“According to my sources, Victor is on his way to Man U for € 45 million. Benfica’s president closed the deal last night. Making their last match tomorrow.
Enligt mina källor ska Vigge vara klar för Man U för €45 milj. Benficas president stängde affären igår kväll. Gör sin sista match imorgon.

The highly-rated centre-back has been linked with the Red Devils for quite some time now but his move to England started looking bleak after the Portuguese champions seemed reluctant to sell him after qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League. But United are desperate to sign him to bolster their back. Eric Bailly, who arrived at the club this term, is currently injured and will be playing in the Africa Cup of Nations in January with Ivory Coast, while Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have recently returned from injuries.
Meanwhile, Lindelof has the credentials to play for the Red Devils. He broke into Benfica’ first team in January this year and helped them win the domestic title. The Swedish defender was recently praised by his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic with whom he played at Euro 2016.
“Victor is doing great things,” Ibrahimovic said last month.
“He has a lot of responsibility for the national team, he is ready for the big clubs out there, it’s up to him and what he wants. I know he’s hot on the market,” he added.
