According to various reports, Manchester United squad have endured the most injuries this season in England, according to physioroom.com. And, Luke Shaw has been United’s most injured player this term.
During the course of the 2014-15 season, Louis Van Gaal’s side have suffered the most injuries compared to any team in the league. The Reds have suffered 68 different injuries during this campaign.
At the starting of the season, Manchester United had more players injured than the number of points they had at board. At a point in the season, United were sidelined with 10 first team players, which was described by Van Gaal as the worst he had experienced in his managerial career.
Infact earlier this month Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Phil Jones were all ruled out of United’s trip to Chelsea. Also, Robin Van Persie only returned to squad that week. Among them Blind has recovered from injury, while the others are yet to be declared fully fit. And, Wayne Rooney is the latest injury causality.
Also the report says left-back Luke Shaw has been United’s most injured player this term, sustaining six setbacks since his move from Souhampton. The young Englishman was never able to replicate the form he showed at Saints and it was largely due to the number of matches which he missed because of injuries.
Arsenal are second in the list with 66 injuries. Whereas Liverpool have had 52 injuries and Manchester City are with 51 different injuries. Manchester United’s figure is far higher than Premier League leaders Chelsea, who have endured 43 injuries over the duration of the term. While Burnley are lowest on the list with 24.
Over the years Arsenal have been the club who have been deemed as the one who has suffered the most injuries. As a matter of fact, a report last October claimed Arsenal players have sustained 889 injuries since August 2002. However, this season things have changed and Van Gaal Reds have overtaken the Gunners.
