Manchester United’s young striker Marcus Rashford was seen with his fingers bandaged together while leaving Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The 18-year old has managed to play complete 90 minutes against Stoke City as the Red Devils have yet again disappointed fans with a draw which saw them drop two valuable points as they fall further down in the race for the title.
However, there has been no update on the extent of injury as he is set to play for England’s national team with him getting selected later on Sunday evening. Despite the bandage around his fingers, it remains to be seen whether he will feature for the national team against Slovenia and Malta in the crucial world cup qualifiers as they are going to the first games of caretaker manager Gareth Southgate.
The games are going to be a huge test for Southgate after the sacking of Sam Allardyce earlier last week as the pressure is on the Three Lions to deliver a good result.
Despite hurting himself during the Stoke game, Rashford has managed to play for the full 90 minutes which could be seen as a positive as he is set to make a comeback to the national squad.
Rashford was seen with a bandage on his hand and some padding between the fingers but he looked not so concerned.
Sam Allardyce has sent the young Rashford to the U-21 side during the last international break and the 18-year old scored a hat-trick. The youngster will also hope that the injury is not serious as he is keen to play a major role under new manager Jose Mourinho.
He has bigger ambitions this season after breaking into Manchester United team last season in February under Louis van Gaal. He has been given a chance by Southgate to prove himself in the senior squad.
Speaking after the announcement of squad, Southgate said: ‘There are obviously a couple of players that I’ve worked with in the Under-21s with Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who we think are exciting young players who we wanted to put in this squad.’
