Former Manchester United stars and club legends Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand has slammed Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea for losing focus in this season.

David De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and transfer deal is yet to be finalised between Manchester United and La Liga giants. Manchester United was never interested in selling their star goalkeeper which has halted the move. Club manager Louis van Gaal had also dropped David De Gea from the Manchester United starting XI promoting new recruit Sergio Romero as the new number one.

Louis van Gaal had earlier said that David De Gea does not want to play for the club as he is not focused.

Most recently club legend Paul Scholes slammed his former teammate for not focusing in the game and thinking about a possible way out.

Scholes was quoted: “How can you lose focus? That’s the thing for me. He is getting paid by this club, it is a brilliant club.

“They paid a lot of money for a young keeper to give him this chance. If the manager is right and says he has lost focus then yeah, I think he is out of order. He should be in that team playing.”

David De Gea did not even feature among the substitutes in any of United matches in this season. Sergio Romero has successfully managed to keep 3 clean sheets in the first 3 matches of the Premier League.

Another former Manchester United player and central defender Rio Ferdinand has also backed Paul Scholes and criticised the Spaniard.

Ferdinand was quoted: “Knowing David like we do, he has been a solid professional for the whole time he has been at Manchester United.

“He has never stepped out of line and I’d be surprised if he has done that. But the manager says so, so we have to abide by that.”
