It is that time in the footballing calendar where clubs splurge money and fight each other to get star players for their team. The January transfer window is on us and all the clubs are ready with their money bags and their shopping list! If Arsenal are eyeing an Egyptian midfielder and city rivals luring in a certain Spaniard to take their reins, United too have a big star from Lazio on their list.

Manchester United are set to bring Felipe Anderson from Lazio to the Theatre of Dreams for 35 million pounds. The Brazilian has been terrific for the French club scoring 4 goals in the league and 1 goal in the Europa League. Manchester United interest in the midfielder doesn’t come as a surprise as Louis Van Gaal had been in the search of some creativity in the midfield that could make the game interesting, and Anderson perfectly fits the bill.

However there is one problem that United would want to look into is whether he would be available to play in the Europa League for the Red Devils, having played for Lazio in the league. But with Southampton unwillingly to let go of their main man, Sadio Mane, Anderson would be a great buy for Manchester United to strengthen their domestic campaign this season.

Vice chairman, Ed Woodward seems to be happy with the Red Devils splurging cash in January despite having spent heavily in the summer. A huge cash investment in accordance with Van Gaal’s plans spells into an elongated association of the club with the Dutchman. Manchester United lack innovativeness and motivation in their game and presumably as a result of the tactics of that Dutchman occupy the 6th position in the league with 30 points out of 19 games. If the title has to be won, Louis Van Gaal will have to take bring back the flavour and make football fun for his players and the fans!
