Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is a transfer target of Spanish giants Real Madrid and even after signing Kiko Casilla from Espanyol, the Los Blancos are still looking for the Spanish shot stopper.
Meanwhile, another goalkeeper Victor Valdes had a fallout with manager Louis Van Gaal and likely to be on his way out of Old Trafford.
Romero is the number one goalkeeper for his national team and played a key role for Argentina in their recent 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign and 2015 Copa America campaign but saw his team losing on the finals of both tournaments.
Romero is well known to Van Gaal as he played under Van Gaal at AZ and this would be a reunion between the duo.
28 year old goalkeeper has 62 national caps for Argentina.
The shot stopper had spells with Sampdoria, Racing Club, AZ and Monaco on loan and currently a free agent.
Romero won an Olympic goal medel with Argentina in 2008.
Romero is a FIFA under 20 World Cup winner in 2007 and Eridivisie winner in 2008-09.
