Premier League giants announced the signing of Argentine winger Angel-di-Maria for a British record transfer fee of 59.7 million pounds from Real Madrid. After lots of speculations in global media after the past couple of weeks, Angel finally put pen to paper to finalise his move that would see him earn 190,000 pound per week. 

One of the most highly-rated players across the globe, di Maria was linked to a move to Manchester United after he rejected a contract extension in Real Madrid. Manchester United boss, Louis van Gaal was full of praises for the Argentine who played the Man of the Match role in the Champions League final that saw the Galacticos win their La Decima(10th Champions League title). The Dutch mastermind said, “Angel is a world-class midfielder…there’s no doubting his immense natural talent.” He went on to say, “He is a tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence. His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team.

Angel di Maria had been quite clear of his intentions to join Manchester United after his agent, Jorge Mendes remarked,” Once there was interest from Manchester United, Angel had made up his mind. He always wanted to go there”.

In an interview post his medical, Angel Di Maria said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for.”

The erstwhile Benfica and Real Madrid midfielder was also excited about the prospect of working with Louis van Gaal. On being asked about his boss, he said,”Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started.

After a successful campaign with Real Madrid last season,notching up European best, 17 assists and 4 goals, Di Maria is excited to move on to this new chapter of his life and continue the legacy of the great players of Manchester United.
