Manchester United are reportedly keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s Hakan Calhanoglu and ready to make a £26.4 million bid in the offing according to Turkish sources.
Manchester United are facing a busy end to the window with Louis van Gaal still known to be in the market for new signings.
And with Anthony Martial’s switch from Monaco looking set to be finalised, Turkish media reports the Red Devils are now making a bid to sign Calhanoglu.
It’s claimed Turkish football pundit Ertem Sener announced the news on the Derin Futbol show, explaining a £26.4m offer is now going on.
The attacking maestro is famed for his incredible free-kick ability and he is tipped for a huge future in the game.
Serie A giants Juventus have also set their sights on the 21-year-old playmaker according to Radyospor.
The Turkish international was recently described by BT Sports pundit and commentator Owen Hargreaves as being a superstar in the making.
The Bayer star scored the opening goal in the 3-0 win over Lazio to take Bayer through to the Champions League group stages and was praised by Hargreaves for his performance on the night.
“I love Çalhanoğlu I think he’s gonna be a superstar, honestly he’s one of the best strikers of the ball you’ll see,” Hargreaves said.
The 21-year-old has already scored twice this season including a free-kick against Hannover 96 – his 22nd free-kick goal.
Çalhanoğlu joined Bayer from HSV on a €15-million transfer last season and has four years left on his contract.
The young playmaker has been selected as the sixth most valuable U-21 players in the world list by Soccerex.
The study by Soccerex takes into account the players position, market value media perception, age, and contract length.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder scored 16 goals and assisted 11 from 53 appearances in all competitions.
