Having stormed earlier with the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, Manchester United’s transfer activities have hit a halt in recent times. They have not been helped by the fact that Angel Di Maria’s transfer has taken so long to get finalized.
Not knowing the transfer fee and duration of Di Maria’s departure, Louis Van Gaal has not been able to line-up proper replacements for the Argentine. However, as things stand the Old Trafford club are set to sign Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez is next 48 hours.
According to Sun Sports, Ed Woodward along with other Manchester United executives have flown to Spain to wrap up a deal to bring the World Cup winning attacker to Old Trafford.
Key Manchester United journalist John Cross has also confirmed that the personal terms and transfer fee of £22million has been agreed now the only things remaining are very small formalities.
Marca understands that Pedro has already played his penultimate match for the Catalan giants against Fiorentina, which ended in a 2-1 defeat. Barcelona are hopeful of keeping hold of the player until their UEFA Super Cup clash on 11th August which would mean that Van Gaal would have to do without Pedro’s services for the season’s opening game against Tottenham.
Van Gaal was earlier quotes saying that Pedro’s transfer would make United one of the strong favorites for next season’s title as he will bring the much needed speed and creativity with him to Old Trafford.
