Bastian Schweinstieger has been told by his manager Pep Guardiola to sort out his future amid the growing transfer interest by Manchester United.
Telegraph have reported the news of Louis Van Gaal fancying a move for his former midfield general due to the contract stand-off between player and the German club Bayern Munich.
Guardiola was speaking to the media addressing the concerns surrounding Schweinstieger’s future. Guardiola said that the player himself will be allowed to make a call on his future at the club and no one else.
Guardiola said: “My plan for next season is that Bastian Schweinsteiger is here. Schweinsteiger is an outstanding legend of Bayern Munich.
“He has to decide – not Pep, not [CEO] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. If he wants to stay for three of four more years here, he can do that.”
Manchester United have been tipped to make a marquee midfield signing in the summer. Fellow German Ilkay Gundogan has been also tipped to make a move to Old Trafford despite Schweinstieger being linked with Man United.
As per the reports, Schweinstieger could be available for a cut price deal of 10million. The transfer fee and the quality of Schweinstieger is a no-brainer, only if Louis Van Gaalcan convince his former star to join him in Premier League.
