The busy festive season of the Premier League often makes or breaks a clubs season and two teams who are badly in need of some positive results will face each other in the last Premier League match of the year. Louis van Gaal will consider himself lucky to still be at the helm of Untied even after a 6 match winless streak that sees them slip to the 6th place in the points table.

They will face an even devastated Chelsea side who have sacked Jose Mourinho and bough in Guus Hiddinik to revive their season. This game in a normal Premier League season is one of the most intriguing matches but this season it is a nothing but a battle of two teams who will play not to lose on the day. Here is the preview of the game along with the Team News, Predicted Line-ups, Predictions and Betting Odds.

The Manchester United vs Chelsea game will be played on Monday the 28th of December at the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. The kick off is scheduled at 5:30 pm BST (11:00 pm IST).

Team News:

Louis van Gaal will happy to note that his squad did not face any new injury concerns going into this game against the reigning champions. Valencia, Shaw and Rojo are still absent from the squad while Matteo Darmian is sweating on his fitness and may not be risked on Monday. Jesse Lingard is also absent from the squad due to an injury. The manager is not expected to make too many changes to his side but might bring Bastian Schweinsteiger into the team after he served the last match of his 3 game suspension.

Guus Hiddink played Eden Hazard or the last third of the game but the Belgian was seen limping off after the game against Watford and is now a doubt for the clash against United. Radamel Falcao is still on the sidelines for the club and will not be available on Monday. Diego Costa who picked a brace on Boxing Day also picked up his 5th yellow of the season and will be serving a suspension for this game. Remy is expected to start up front for the Blues in this crunch game.

Expected Line-ups:

Manchester United:

De Gea, Young, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Mata, Martial, Rooney.

Courtois, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Ramires, Willian, Oscar, Pedro, Remy.

Key Battles:

Willian vs Blind:

Daley Blind was almost non existent in the game against Watford and was easily outplayed on the flank. He will be up against one of the brightest stars for Chelsea this season, Willian. WIllian has taken the responsibility to make things happen in the final third for his club and will battle it out against Blind on Monday.

Martial vs Terry:

Anthony Martial has been superb for United in his first few games but has faded away ever since. But he has great potential and will be the danger man for Chelsea on the night. Skipper John Terry will have the responsibility to keep the young striker quite and this battle has the potential to decide the tie at the end of the game.

Betting Odds:

Manchester United: 13/8

Draw: 9/5

Chelsea: 21/10

Chelsea and United have struggled to create chances in the final third and have been exposed at the back in recent times. But the game is all about the tale of the two managers who are at different ends of the spectrum. Hiddink will be hoping to get his first victory in-charge of Chelsea while LVG will hope to get a positive result from this game to save his job till the end of the year. It will be a game mostly devoid of exceptional moments and may be decided by a mistake from either side.

Our Prediciton:

Manchester United 0-0 Chelsea
