Controvertial Italian striker Mario Balotelli has yet again created news as he has decided not to leave Liverpool this summer, even though the club desperately wants to off-load the striker.
Mario Balotelli has joined Liverpool last season from AC Milan for a sizable transfer fee of £16m. A lot was expected from the player who otherwise was a very good goal getter. Unfortunately, Balotelli failed miserably as he started in just 10 games for the Reds in the Premier League scoring just a solitary goal.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has signed two new strikers this season which includes youngster Danny Ings and a high profile signing of Christian Bentke from Aston Villa to bolster his squad. At present the club have six strikers in their squad as a result Rodgers had instructed Balotelli to train with the youth team.
The club even contacted Italian Serie A sides Lazio and Sampdoria over a possible loan move for the player. But now Mirror claims that Mario Balotelli does not wants to leave the club. He would rather train with the youth team than returning back to Italy.
The main reason which is being cited is under the terms of the contract he signed when he made his £16m move, the striker will receive a ‘loyalty’ bonus as soon as the transfer window closes. Thus, Balotelli will pick up a six-figure bonus for staying at Liverpool.
Also Mario Balotelli has been abused several times at his country Italy and so it does not wants to go back. Rather he would prefer staying in England whee he has many friends from the time of his Manchester City stint.
Liverpool will now face the problems as they have to stick to the players untill his contract ends. Balotelli had signed a four years contract last summer.
