Martial Steals The Show! Manchester United Player Ratings In Their 2-0 Victory Over Watford

Jose Mourinho will be a happy man as his side Manchester United managed to keep up their good work from recent times with a comfortable victory over the Hornets at the weekend. The Red Devils started the game brightly and took full advantage at the half-hour mark as Spanish playmaker Juan Mata opened the scoring latching onto a cross from Anthony Martial at the end of the slick move. The Frenchman doubled the lead at the hour mark with a smart finish at the near post to give United all three points from this tie. Though they momentarily moved to the 5th place, Liverpool’s victory over the Spurs keeps Manchester United in the 6th place in the points table. Here are the player ratings for the Red Devils for this game:

David de Gea (7):

Made a few smart saves to keep Watford away from goal, helping Manchester United seal a comfortable victory.

Antonio Valencia (7):

A constant presence up and down the right flank, Valencia, helped his side at both ends of the field in a productive game for the full-back.

Chris Smalling (7):

Stuck to his task well at the back as he never gave the visitors a sniff at his goal, helping his side to a clean sheet and victory.

Eric Bailly (8):

Was a man mountain at the back for Manchester United as he had an answer for everything that was thrown at him. Also set up a few attacks, putting in a super performance.

Daley Blind (5):

Though decent going forward, Blind, was a liability almost every time M’Baye Niang took him on, on the flank in this game.

Ander Herrera (7):

Was comfortable playing alongside Paul Pogba in a two-man mid-field and put in a decent performance to help his side maintain their dominance over the visitors.

Paul Pogba (7):

Was all over the visitors in the first half of the game but slowly faded away late (in the game) when the game was already won.

Juan Mata (7):

Was a constant presence in the final third for Manchester United and his smart movement in and around the box earned him a goal and opened the scoring for United.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (7):

Came close to scoring on more than one occasion and created a few chances as he slowly establishes himself under Jose Mourinho at the club.

Anthony Martial (8):

The French star was the Man of the Match on the night for the Red Devils as he picked up a goal and an assist, helping his side to a comfortable victory over Watford.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (5):

Was completely off-color on the night as he failed to provide the threat in the final third that United were looking for. Picked up an assist for Martial’s goal none the less.

Subs:

Marouane Fellaini (6):

Came in the second half and added some balance and mettle to the mid-field for Liverpool.

Marcus Rashford (6):

Took no time to take on the Watford defense and came close to getting himself a goal on more than one occasion.

Jesse Lingard (5):

Got a few minutes under his belt late in the game.
