Matchday Blow: Manchester United Star Confirms He Will Leave This Summer

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are slowly making some progress in the Premier League this month as they managed to get within a couple of points off of a place in the Champions League next season.

They are currently 14 points off Chelsea at the top of the table and have very little chance of making it to the top come the end of the season. But they are active in three other competitions, having setup the League Cup semifinal over Southampton at Wembley.

The manager will be relatively happy with the performances of most of his first team stars but he is expected to let a few of them leave in the summer.

Mourinho is looking add some quality to the first team at the club and might sacrifice a couple of big names to make place. One such player who has today admitted that he could be on his way out of the club is Spanish playmaker Juan Mata.

The 28-year old was pushed out of the Chelsea team not so long ago by Jose Mourinho and was snapped up by David Moyes in his time at the Old Trafford.

Ever since, Mata, has been on the fringes of the first team and has not been able to cement a place in the starting XI under his former manager from Chelsea.

He moved to the Premier League 6 years ago but a report from the Cadena SER, a Spanish news outfit, states that Mata is now looking to quit the Old Trafford this summer.

He has just over a year left on his contract and will be available for close to nothing this summer if decides to make a move.

Speaking to the Radio station, Mata revealed that though he is currently happy with his situation at the club, he went on to say that he is looking forward to moving back to the La Liga.

Mata told Spanish radio station Cadena SER: “I don’t know what will happen.

“I’ve been asked before, and I don’t know. I’ve been here six years, and I am happy in England,” he added.

Mata made himself a name in his time at Valencia in Spain and he has in the past spoke about his desire to play for his former club in the future.

And in this interview, he revealed that he is looking forward to playing in Spain again.

“But I love Spain still and always follow La Liga from here,” he said.

“I would like to play again back at home,” Mata added.

Jose Mourinho will now be looking to add a star player in his position if he ends up quitting the club come the end of the season.

Do you think Mata should stay at Manchester United?
