Matteo Darmian has laughed off rumours linking him with a Manchester United exit. Darmian may not be having the best of seasons but that doesn’t mean that he is ready to quit Old Trafford so soon. The 23 year-old full back has had an injury plagued season but has managed to make 23 appearances for the Red Devils.

Darmian signed for United in July 2015 from Torino for a fee believed to be in the region of £12.7m and reports suggested that Italian is unhappy in England and is already eyeing a move away from United with Juventus and Bayern Munich reportedly keen. Juventus manager Masimilano Allegri tried to sign Darmian in the summer but was pipped to it by Manchester United.

Darmian started off the season in amazing form and was voted the Player of the Month by Manchester United fans in August but poor form and injuries have found Darmian struggling with reports suggesting that the defender was looking for an escape route.

However, Darmian has quickly quashed those rumours and stated that he is loving life at Manchester United.

“I am happy here with the team, the staff and the city,” the 26-year-old was quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.
“I think the manager is happy with my progress and when I train I try to improve day by day. And when the manager gives me a chance, I try to do my best and to help the team.”

Darmian still has 3.5 years left on his contract and he doesn’t plan to leave any time soon.

“I am happy here so I just try to ignore the rumours. I want to continue on my way and that’s it.

Louis Van Gaal is already under a lot of pressure with a large section of the United fans demanding him to be sacked and it is a welcome move for him that fan-favourite Darmian has himself denied reports of an exit.
