The mighty Real Madrid were stuck in a controversial scenario last night after they played Denis Cheryshev in a match when he is ineligible to participate in it because he had formerly been red carded in the previous game.
The club overlooked this aspect and named him in the starting XI. The news came into notice after the media highlighted it. It was very silly of Los Blancos to neglect this.
However, the mistake was realized when the game was on and coincidence had it that the goal scorer was Cheryshev for the Spanish giants. As soon as the team realized their fault, the player was subbed off.
The reports claimed that the club could be eliminated from Copa del Rey for this mistake. This was really foolish of the club although Florentina Perez claimed that the club from Santiago Bernabeu was unaware that Cheryshev was ineligible for the game.
This unfortunate man is making more news apart from the controversial tragedy.
Cheryshev is now being targeted by Merseyside club, Liverpool. The Russian is claimed to be desperate for a loan move to secure some game time after struggling to find opportunities this year, despite his start against Cadiz. According to Fichajes, Liverpool is in pole position to sign the controversy hit player.
However, it is believed that Madrid wants to sell Denis to another Spanish club as they seek to prepare him for a more important future role at the Santiago Bernabeu. Denis could be a useful buy for the Reds, who lost a key attacking player in Raheem Sterling in the summer.
