Manchester United received a huge boost after hearing the sensational revelation by Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller, the German recently in an interview dropped a hint that he could be tempted by the big wages of premier League Clubs.
Muller has long been a top priority target of Manchester United, with rumours suggesting van Gaal offered a £88-million bid for the 26-year-old Bayern striker. The German club’s chairman quickly reacted strongly saying if the offer was just a money matter Bayern would have gladly accepted the offer, but everybody knows how special is Muller to the club.
But now the 26-year-old striker might have opened the door considering an astonishing move to the premier League if he was to receive a pay rise.
Thomas Muller Speaking to the German press revealed, “In the end we should not forget that playing football is our job.”
“People should accept wages will always play a role in a player’s decision making. Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to do that.”
The German international’s long-term teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger is also now reunited with his ex-boss van Gaal. Maybe Muller is also thinking of following the footsteps of Bastian. The Bavarians home grown lad Muller has scored stunning 131 goals in 315 matches for his present club. He has still four years left in his contract of £110,000-a-week. It will definitely be a challenge for United to succeed the tough deal as Bayern are still reluctant to let go their star goalscorer.
“You have to look at the complete package to determine whether something is right for you. What’s good for you one day will not necessarily still be good for you the day after.”
“I know that a lot of German clubs are unhappy with the premier league club’s spending, but I think it is something good for all clubs in the end. It can only be a good thing for football when clubs invest so much money. ” Muller’s further statement clearly hints that he also planning on taking up a new challenge away from Munich. Also, he will be glad to work again with his ex-boss.
Manchester United now has only three recognised senior strikers in the first team in the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and James Wilson. So another world-class striker who has a knack of scoring goals along with providing assists regularly would be highly welcomed.
