Manchester United have suffered yet another massive blow ahead of their crucial Europa League semifinal clash against Celta Vigo as defender Luke Shaw could be missing the rest of the season.
The 21-year old has suffered an injury during their weekend clash against Swansea City and was taken off just 10 minutes into the game. Reports suggest the left back is set to visit a specialist as there has been increasing fears over damaging his ligaments in the foot which will see him miss the action for a considerable amount of time.
Shaw, has not played a massive role in the side so far this season as Mourinho has publicly banished him for lack of intent. But, the young left back is set to play a massive role in the final few weeks of the season as the Red Devils are in massive injury crisis.
The defender is definitely out of the clash for Celta Vigo as Manchester United travel to Spain to get a positive result for the second leg in Old Trafford next week.
Speaking after the Swansea game, Mourinho has confirmed about Luke Shaw’s injury as he said: ‘I don’t know about the injuries.
‘I think Luke Shaw’s must be a big injury, because to leave the pitch after 10 minutes I am expecting a very big injury.
‘I prefer to speak about Juan Mata giving everything to be available. I am grateful for that.
‘But with Shaw it must be a big injury.’
Manchester United had a near perfect squad at the start of the April but things did not fall in place for the club as they have lost both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo for the reminder of the season. Paul Pogba is also keen to get back on pitch after being rested for his extreme fatigue.
Chris Smalling is also recovering from his injury but the Red Devils faced another major setback when both Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly suffered injuries in their game against Swansea City in the weekend. Jose Mourinho will now need to rely on Matteo Darmian or Michael Carrick to partner Daley Blind in central defense in their game against Celta Vigo on Thursday.
