The Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has been taunted for his tactics which has seen his side languish at the bottom half of the Barclays Premier League this season.

The Blues have made a terrible start to the new campaign, winning three of their opening 11 matches. Chelsea have been poor so far in this campaign and sit 16th, having lost more top flight matches already this term than they did in 2014-15. The most recent defeat came over the weekend when his team fell 3-1 at home to Southampton. Result of that – Chelsea held a crisis talks in West London as Roman Abramovich personally carried out the inquest into the defeat.

A number of Chelsea’s star performers from last season have failed to replicate the impressive performances which helped propel the west Londoners to their third Premier League title. Despite the team’s board support to the beleaguered Mourinho, the Portuguese has come under severe attacks from fans, players and followers of EPL. One of which is former England manager Fabio Capello who believes the English champions’ current woes are the direct result of Mourinho overworking his players.

“Mourinho burns out his players after a year and a half, at most two years,” Capello said in a recent interview.

According to Capello, Mourinho has a consistent track record of gradually burning his players over a two year period. He believes the Premiere League Champions are paying the price now. “I had already heard it when he was in Madrid and now we have confirmation in London. It is true that Chelsea is paying for some of their absences – like Courtois. But there have also been tactical errors from the coach, who this year is not preparing for matches very well. The team does not have rhythm and is lacking malice and aggression.” He has also pinpointed Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic as Chelsea’s weak link.
